The New Years festival in Dublin just keeps getting better and better. We’ve had Madness and Kodaline headline in previous years and now this year’s line-up sounds fantastic.

The promoter, MCD, has just announced that as part of New Years Festival Dublin (NYF Dublin), the 3Countdown Concert will take place again this year and will be headlined by Walking On Cars.

Joining them on the night will be The Blizzards, Brian Deady & Little Hours.

It was in the 3Arena last year but will be moving to a new location which sounds like the perfect spot to ring in the new year. It will be taking place in the middle of the city on St. Stephen’s Green South on New Years Eve, 31st December.

2016 has been a huge year for Walking On Cars so far. Their debut album Everything This Way, released at the end of January, reached the number one spot in the Irish Album Chart, remaining there for three consecutive weeks. If their gig at Electric Picnic is anything to go by this one will be amazing.

The Blizzards come back has been spectacular. Their headline show at Whelan’s sold out in just 2 hours and the band played to packed tents during this summer’s festival season. Their single Drop Down The Anchor has been taking over Irish radio since its release featuring on Radio A playlists across the country.

Tickets priced €27.90 incl. booking fee go on sale at 9am this Thursday, October 6th from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and www.ticketmaster.ie.

Elaine Carey, Chief Commercial Officer of Three, said:

“Three is committed to connecting music lovers to the things that matter to them; great music and unique experiences. We’re delighted to be involved in NYF Dublin for the third year in a row, and to once again offer Three customers the opportunity to buy tickets first through our rewards programme, 3Plus.”

Speaking about the festival, Keelin Fagan, Head of Dublin at Fáilte Ireland, said:

“The New Year’s Festival Dublin 2016  will be bigger and better than ever with an amazing programme spanning three days from the 30th December 2016 to the 1st January 2017 show-casing the best of Irish talent in the areas of music, culture, arts &  entertainment.

Key to the festival’s continued success is the securing of high profile acts and performers such as Walking on Cars & The Blizzards. Once more, we look forward to welcoming many visitors to Dublin at the end of this year for an action-packed programme of festive fun.”
