It’s a sad sad day for music.
TXFM have broadcast for the very last time.
The news was announced six months ago in a statement released by the Broadcasting Authority Of Ireland.
The station, which had just celebrated its second birthday at the time, was forced to make six full-time staff redundant.
The news was (and still is) a real blow to Irish radio, as TXFM had added some much-needed musical diversity to the airwaves over the past two years.
All day people (including us) have been reflecting on the station and the joy it brought.
Defiantly switched the work canteen radio to @TXFMDublin for the last time 🙁 We may have lost the war but it was worth the fight! #TXFM pic.twitter.com/EDQFBy9UL2

What does it feel like?
Like you’ve been told a loved one has exactly 6 months to live.
Right down to the exact day & time.#TXFM— ? Paul Donegan ? (@pauldonegan1052) October 26, 2016
To paraphrase…
Don’t cry because it’s over, turn it up, dance&smile because it happened.Today, it’s all about #TXFMGreatWaves pic.twitter.com/VwpDKL3cAM

U2 took an opportunity to share their sadness, gifting TXFM with an audio recording.
At the time, the BAI had said there were two declarations of interest for the license.
