Simple Beauty Resolutions To Make Now That Will Have An Impact All Year!

We all start the New Year with the best of intentions, resolving to lose weight and get fit or learn a new skill. But if your resolve has already started to fade after at the first hurdle then here are a few make-up resolutions.

Her

While deciding to pursue a healthier lifestyle is compendable it can seem daunting at the beginning when you’ve only just started and the goal you’ve set yourself seems very far off in the distance.

It is easy for all of us to fall into bad make-up habits – using grubby brushes, falling into bed with a full face of slap on and worst of all picking our spots – so starting from now we vow to follow these easy peasy ways to improve our beauty regime. And we think you should too.

While it isn’t pleasant most of us do it and it is we’ll admit very difficult to resist popping an obvious white head. But here’s the downfall picking at your spots can spread bacteria and in the long term lead to scaring of the skin. If you are prone to break outs make a conscious effort to keep your hands away from your face. One of the best products we’ve tested found is Origins Super Spot Remover, €16.90, that isn’t cheap but worth the investment as it reduces swelling and redness. Trust us, this works!

Hands up if you’ve ever fallen into bed at the end of a hard night’s partying with your make-up still on? We only ask because we’ve done it ourselves. Old make-up clogs up pores, causes acne and leaves bacteria on your face. We understand at that hour of the morning a full cleanse, tone and mosturise routine probably isn’t in the works so pick up  some handy removal wipes for those make-up emergencies i.e. too much pinot griogio!

Nothing is nicer than a hot shower right? Well yes but if you can experiement with turning the temparature nozzle down a few notches because your skin will thank you. Scalding hot water blasts the moisture out of the skin leaving it dry and cracked. A Body Shop Body Butter, €17.95, will do the trick is restoring your skin’s natural moisture and ensure soft skin again. The coconut one is our fave.

Don’t forget your hands. This often neglected body part can be the first to show the signs of aging so use hand cream regularly to protect your mitts. We’re mad for the L’occitane Shea Butter hand cream, €9.99, for its mega-mosturising ways.

Do you own enough beauty products to stock a small chemist? Now is the time to have a good clear out and chuck anything that has been hanging around for  over a year needs. Unless it’s a good quality eyeshadow which can last up to three years. Mascaras need to be replaced every four months or you risk giving yourself a nasty eye infection. And be careful not to share make-up as this is the easiest way to spread germs. Also, give your brushes a reguar clean: simply using a little bit of your cleanser and warm water will do the trick.

Now for the fun part. We’re all guilty of getting stuck in a make-up rut, regularly reaching for the same trusted lippy and always doing a smokey eye on a night out. Then it’s time to pay a visit to a reputable a make-up counter to get a few pointers on how to achieve a new look. The brands we’d trust to give us a make-up makeover are Bobbi Brown, Nars and Laura Mercier.
