A photographer in New York has caught a spectacular shot of two lightning bolts simultaneously striking the two tallest buildings in the city.
Photographer John Rubino took the shot from the 15th floor of his Long Island City apperment, during a thunderstorm on Friday night.
Rubino spoke about how he was watching TV re-runs and had his camera automatically taking snaps every 30 seconds when he struck gold with the double hit.
Speaking to the New York Post, Rubino said:
“I’ve been living here for four years. I’ve attempted to capture lightning striking the Empire State Building a number of times.’’
It was only after checking back on his film from the night did the New Yorker realise he’d captured lightning striking both the Empire State Building and the new Freedom Tower at the same time.
There is no other non-photoshop image of a double-lightning strike.
Pretty spectacular.
