The baby is by far the main event but avid Kate watchers are also keeping an eye on her pregnancy wardrobe choices and are anticipating how her new role will influence her sartorial style.
And if we were in a betting mood, we’d be sticking a fiver on Alice Temperley’s Autumn Winter 13 collection, shown yesterday at LFW.
Kate loves a dress with sleeves but she also loves form fitting tailoring that shows off her sinewy gym honed silhouette in all its glory and we don’t expect this to change with the new arrival. In fact, we kind of think that the duchess will become a lot more daring with her fashion choices.
She’s been playing it safe thus far but we’re guessing that her new role as royal mum will give her a new found confidence to ditch the boring option and take a few more fashion risks. And that’s where Temperley London comes in.
The designer’s latest collection shown at LFW was classic Temperley but with a twist. Entitled ‘Byrds’, the looks were undoubtedly based on Hitchcock’s heroines and the leading ladies of the catwalk were ultra groomed and polished, a little bit austere and far more edgy than usual.
Featuring a selection of demure yet slightly daring knee length skirts and dresses, the collection also featured waist cinching sweaters belted tightly into place which will no doubt show Kate’s tiny and trim post baby figure off to perfection.
The selection of evening coats in sophisticated prints and jewel tones are also sure to appeal to the royal mum as she embarks on a publicity drive in the wake of the heir’s arrival.
And fingers crossed she might even ditch her sensible selection of black and nude courts and match her new outfits to the towering Charlotte Olympia heels from the show.
Stranger things have happened!
