The X Factor live shows have kicked off with a bang and that means we’re analysing the television screen for only one thing…
No, we’re not scrutinising the talent on the show or peering to see if we can catch a glimpse of Ella’s tonsils, although that will happen soon enough, we’re watching out for the judge’s style stakes, their fashion bashin’, their wardrobe wars…
And after last night? Nicole-1, Tulisa-0.
Nicole hit the stage in a form-fitting, black mini-dress made up of sheer panels teamed up with black ankle boots. Although a slip of any of the panels could have made for interesting television viewing, she certainly did a better job than her fellow judge Tulisa in the style stakes.
The singer exited the stage doors in an unflattering navy, silk gown. We loved the folded detail on the top of the dress, but from the waist down it did the girl no favours and hung shapelessly from her hips.
Tulisa looked like the prom-going teenager that tried too hard next to the sexy, savvy-looking Nicole.

Nicole-1. Tulisa-0.
Although, kudos to Tulisa for dying her hair back dark, we couldn’t have taken out the sunglasses for another night of looking at her blinding brassy blonde on the TV screen.
Gary, our male fashion icon, kept it classy in a black suit, white shirt and black skinny tie and Louis didn’t do too bad either, sporting his reliable velvet suit jacket, it was just the light-reflecting shiny-patterned trousers we weren’t too sure about this week…
Best dressed contestant for the night? Jade Ellis did well in black leather corset and asymmetric chiffon skirt.
Worst dressed? We love her to bits and we know she is just sixteen, but there was no need for the black woolly tights under Ella’s feminine peach chiffon gown.
Special mention to poor Olly Murs who braved Xtra Factor in a polo neck and trench coat… the poor guy was sweating profusely. We asked Gary why he was decked out in Christmas snow-shovelling clothing and we’re still waiting for a response, but we’ll keep you up-to-date. It’s worth a Google…
