Looks like Victoria Beckham is well on her way to building a fashion empire.
The designer has confirmed that she will be opening her first store on Dover Street in London this autumn and rumour has it she’s also eyeing up the US market too.
Beckham has hired Farshid Moussavi to design the new space in the UK. Moussavi’s previous work includes the Olympic Park and Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.
The 7,000 sq ft space has three floors and sits opposite the famous fashion house Dover Street Market.
Speaking to WWD, Beckham said that plans for the shop included “drilling a massive hole through the middle” of the building’s interior.
“I think the time is now because I know my customer,” she said, remarking that the location was “young and cool”.
“There are great galleries in the area. There’s Dover Street Market directly opposite of us, which is not a bad thing.”
The designer’s new store will house all of her collections that fall under the Victoria Beckham brand.
“[Moussavi] is a woman who loves fashion as well,” she added. “She has quite a conceptual eye, which I like
“We want to make something different without making it overly complicated. I just want it to feel real for me.”
