Pregnancy can put a spanner in the works for even the most experienced stylista as her fashion sense is sure to be thrown all outta whack by the extra weight and expanding tummy.
The number one priority when you’re expecting is to be comfy but that doesn’t mean you have to forfeit fashion altogether. Whether you copy the Kardashian Klan’s full-on glossy mamma vibe or K-Middy’s chicer more sophisticated mother-to-be look there is no shortage of celebs to look to for fashion inspiration.
Knowing your body shape is the trick to dressing well even if you’re not expecting so having this nugget of vital information prior to your pregnancy makes all the difference. Once you know what body shape you are, identify your assets and play to these. Even though your belly will be getting bigger if you have a great set of pins make sure to show them off in a well-cut pair of trousers and a patterned tunic. Equally if you’ve always had a slim boyish figure don’t shy away from tighter clothing now your middle is getting bigger. Instead embrace your new womanly curves by wearing stretchy fabrics and form-fitting tops.

Look for clothing that has extra room allowing for your baby bump to grow. Picking up the key pieces at the beginning of your pregnancy means you should still be able to wear them all the way through and after your bundle of joy arrives. Empire line dresses, tops and blouses flow out from under the bust allowing room for an expanding belly.
Don’t forget to accessorise with jewellery, pattern scarves and hats. Also don’t avoid colour or print as both will give your look fashion oomph. Remember as your bump grows and your body changes shape start wearing chunkier jewellery rather than finer pieces as the bigger gems will help to balance your new proportions.
