Former Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière has been announced as the new artistic director at Louis Vuitton.
The design house made the announcement on Twitter, tweeting “Louis Vuitton is thrilled to welcome Nicolas Ghesquière as artistic director of the women’s collections”.
Although his appointment had been rumoured since Marc Jacobs stepped down in October, the news was only confirmed yesterday.

Ghesquière will bring his long-term collaborator Marie Amélie Sauvé with him, and there are rumors that his former first assistant at Balenciaga, Natacha Ramsay, will also join his new team at Louis Vuitton.
“Louis Vuitton had always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration,“ Ghesquiére said of his appointment.
“I am very honoured of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”
