London Fashion Week Round Up: Part Two

More of the gorgeous collections emerging from London Fashion Week. We want everything...

Cathy Donohue

If you’re a fashion lover, chances are you will have been glued to live streaming of the shows at London Fashion Week and are checking social media for all the latest updates.

It may be pouring rain outside but the gorgeous fashion on offer has us thinking of sunny days and balmy evenings. Spring just can’t come quick enough. For those of you who haven’t had time to check out the shows, here are some of the highlights…

Topshop Unique

There are those who can’t understand why a high street retailer is showing at a prestigious fashion week, but it is the one collection to bring Anna Wintour, Kate Moss and Ellie Goulding to the same show space. Mirrored embellishments, modern prints and forest green hues brought a midnight garden party to mind. Geometric patterns are set to rule spring 2014, as seen at Victoria Beckham’s show at New York Fashion Week.

Burberry

Designer Christopher Bailey created a distinctly feminine feel with Burberry’s spring collection. Powdery pastel shades of pink, lavender, green and yellow were the main shades used, candy colours at their very best. A piece for the spring wish list is definitely the pencil skirt with intricate lace patterns and jewelled embellishments. Macrame lace, raw silk and merino wool were some of the fabrics used. Oh, and the cashmere sweater with an open tied back… an investment piece if ever there was one.

Tom Ford

Deviating from many of the soft romantic collections shown this week, Tom Ford took a different direction. Leather biker jackets, double breasted trouser suits and glamorous slip dresses formed his spring offerings. Monochrome, zebra print and sparkly beading reigned supreme here. Opulent with a powerful dash of sex appeal, this collection is oh so slick. We can definitely see these looks translated on the high street next season. Power dressers, look no further!

Simone Rocha

There was high expectation attached to this show as her AW 13 show was so well received and the designer did not disappoint. The little white dress is set to be a key piece next season and Rocha presented different variations of how to rock this trend. Pearls, frills, peplums and ruffles created an elegant feel but Rocha modernised this with fancy suspenders and Miss Havisham chic. Tulle, leather, jacquard and plastic… the 27 year old Dubliner has a unique flare for marrying quirky with chic.
