September is a pretty big month in the fashion calendar.
The world’s leading fashion designers show their spring collections and we find out what trends are big news for the coming year. Every season is unique and equally gorgeous, but we do have a soft spot for spring.
Pastels, florals, neons, print and white in abundance… this season allows us to embrace our femininity. This year’s collections are absolutely gorgeous, prepare to want everything.
Holly Fulton
This designer had holiday dressing in mind with a colour palette of tangerine, coral, violet and denim blue. Maxi skirts accompanied trousers and shirt ensembles while the art deco motif denim dress stood out as a signature piece from Fulton’s collection. So too did the shimmering gold eyelash textured coat, an investment piece if ever there was one. Fulton said of her collection, “The focus is on an elegant yet sexy silhouette with the emphasis on multimedia summer surfaces.”
David Koma
This designer’s spring offering was definitely one of the highlights so far. His spring collection can best be described as tough elegance, chic but with attitude. Known for his love of architectural silhouettes, these pieces are works of art. We need a David Koma dress in our lives. Baby pinks and electric blues are offset by sharp black and white lines. Feminine shades coupled with masculine lines made for a futuristic and modern collection.
Temperley London
One of the most talked shows on social media over the weekend; the spring Temperley collection is truly gorgeous. Best described as princess dresses, models strutted down the catwalk in stunning fabrics with embellishments and the most intricate of details. Deep purples, blush pinks and cool mints formed the basis of the colour palette. Leopard print was unexpected but cool, adding a modern touch. A highlight was the short white dress complete with jewelled embellishment and matching jacket.
Mulberry
Luxurious is the best word to describe Mulberry, evident again from this spring’s collection. Floral jacquard print and silk long-legged trousers in summer blues, pretty pinks and whites formed the backbone of the collection. Bold florals and leathers then crept in lending a distinct edge to proceedings. And the bags, oh the beautiful bags… the Bayswater has been given a new look as has the beautiful Willow featuring stripes and embroidery. So, if you happen to win the lottery, this is the ultimate It bag…
