Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the Mandela premiere in London last night, choosing to accessorise her Roland Mouret bespoke gown with a £19.99 (€24) Zara necklace.
The sparkling statement piece features three rows of glass beads set in zinc and linked together like chainmail which perfectly offset her designer gown, worn for the second time in public.
Featuring a thigh high slit, it was a brave choice considering the cold weather. However as Kate often chooses demure dresses this was a welcome departure from her usual style.

Kate paired designer with high-street at the Mandela premiere in London last night
31-year-old Kate and husband Prince William, were attending the UK premiere of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom at London’s Odeon Leicester Square – the official 2013 Royal Film Performance.
The occasion was a poignant one as Mandela’s passing was announced just as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the former South African president’s daughter, Zindzi Mandela, sat down to watch the screening of Long Walk To Freedom, the movie based on his autobiography.
After the premiere Prince William spoke to waiting reporters saying that the news was ‘extremely sad and tragic. He added: ‘We were just reminded of what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now.’
