Italian Fashion House Founder Missoni Dies, Aged 92

Missoni passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

Ottavio Missoni, founder of the Italian fashion house famed for its colourful geometric knits has died, aged 92.

Missoni set up the Italian fashion house in 1953 and the geometric knit soon became the brand’s trademark style.

A statement on the designer’s death said he “passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family”.

Ottavio led a successful fashion career, starting out by designing knitted tracksuits for athletes after he represented Italy in the 1948 Olympic Games.

He began his brand with his wife Rosita and the label now boasts 40 stores around the world.
