Is Katy Perry Ditching Pop For The Catwalk?

Singer plans on launching clothing line later this year

She’s known for her cartoon inspired creations and her love of crazy colours and if reports are to be believed, the Teenage Dream singer is in talks to bring her off-beat sense of style to the masses.

According to sources close to the star, Katy is planning a clothing line with her best friend and fashion stylist Johnny Wujerk.

The line which will be womenswear to start with, will apparently take inspiration from the pair’s shared fashion icons rather than Katy’s past outfit choices so what it could potentially look like is still  little vague.

Speaking to the Sun, a source said “Katy has been asked about setting up her own fashion line for years. But she’s started to talk about it seriously with Johnny now.

Katy’s fashion choices of late have been a bit more demure than usual

“They would use inspiration from the likes of Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani because they are sophisticated dressers – very bright and vintage-looking stuff.”

So no cupcake dresses and giant lollypop bikini tops then?

And while the singer has no formal design background she isn’t the first popstar to embark on a career in fashion.

Beyonce owns and runs clothing company House of Dereon with her mother Tina and Jessica Simpson’s billion dollar fashion empire has been hugely successful since it launched in 2007.
