We’re trying really hard not to be uber jealous of Carey Mulligan at the moment.
Not only is she appearing in one of the most hotly anticipated remakes of the year and starring alongside our one true love Leo, Carey also acts as a muse to Miuccia Prada and gets to wear the latest Prada and Miu Miu creations hot off the runway.
The upcoming remake of The Great Gatsby has been a long time coming (filming commenced in September 2011) and as fans of the book and the original movie starring Robert Redford, we’re only dying to see if maverick movie maker Baz Luhrmann will do it justice.
But, if the release of four costume sketches by Miuccia Prada are an indicator, there are great things to come.
The Italian designer has had a long-standing relationship with the director – they also worked together on Romeo and Juliet – so it comes as no great surprise that the pair have joined forces again on The Great Gatsby. Tasked with creating 40 cocktail and evening dresses, Miuccia worked closely with the film’s costume designer Catherine Martin to adapt past Prada and Miu Miu collections for the movie and the results are simply stunning.
Inspired by runway looks from the last 20 years, the first sneak peak of Miuccia’s sketches reveal sequins, typically Prada geometric patterns, plenty of fur and quintessential 20s style beaded numbers.

It’s literally a match made in fashion and film heaven and we can’t wait to see what the other 36 look like!
We hope you know how lucky you are Carey…
