Now we know that Christmas hasn’t even been or gone but in the world of fashion things move very fast. So we have an exclusive sneak peek at all the shiny new things that will be hitting the rails from February at our favourite fast-fashion retailer.
Penneys will always do the slogan printed jersey, skimpy dresses, sparkly cutaway shorts… all the pieces that no-one over 18-years-of-age could possibly wear. But then on the flipside they do wardrobe winners that when you’re complimented on them you can smile smugly and reply ‘Penneys thanks.’
It’s a honed skill being able to weed out the key fashion buys and snap them up before they sell out but when you do you can wear them like a badge of honour.
Trust us your summer look won’t be complete without a baseball jacket. Designers Isabel Marant and Alexander Wang kicked off the trend for varsity style jackets and sports luxe a few seasons ago and now the high street have taken the trend and run with it!
Top tip: you’re going to want to wear this style either shrunken like you robbed it off your baby bro or oversized like you borrowed it from your man. Penneys have a number of designs coming in from printed silk-look versions to the more traditional style, €15, pictured above.

Another piece we’ve earmarked as a key buy is this aztec pattern trophy jacket, €29. It reminded us of this sell-out star from the English denim brand’s spring/summer 2012 collection. We plan to wear this cool cover-up the same way as Jessica Alba with jeans, boots and a lightweight scarf for a stylish spring look.
At the preview of the collection last Friday the buyers told us they went to Copenhagen for inspiration and the influence of our stylish Scandi sisters can be seen in the shot below that is so typical of their look: the top knot, bright lippy, relaxed stance, cool attitude – it’s all here in spades.

Another big hitter of spring/summer will be the print trouser. It’s been on the scene for awhile but it’s about to go stellar. Penneys have a plethora of styles but these instagram pattern ones, €17, won us over with their vibrant patchwork of pictures… we love!
