Festival beauty essentials – what you really need to bring

For that big weekend ahead.

With festival season having truly begun it’s time we had pieced together the absolute essentials you need for that overnight camping stay at that epic festival of choice.

Festivals may bring with them merriment, friends, and an all-round magnificent weekend, but it can also wreak havoc on our skin, hair and energy levels.

Here’s a little list of the essentials. First up – the beauty essentials.

1. Yes, we are absolutely loving the outlandish glitter phenomenon. Oh. Em. G. Artistic, flawless, free-spirited! There’s no better way to portray those festival vibes. Whether you use glitter and shine as your clothing or makeup – you’re bound to look fabulous.

2. Boho chic. Will it ever go out of fashion? We do hope not! We wouldn’t have that earthy, freeing aura about the place without our vibrant and creative wardrobe.

3. Nothing transforms your look quite like a change of colour to your hair. Get into the festival mood with a pop of pastel coloured pinks, blues or purples. The truth is, anything goes, so have fun with it. Our personal favourite of course is L’Oréal Paris Colorista which offers gorgeous colour for our hair, without making that long term commitment.

Next up – maintenance.

4. Do NOT ever forget wellies, but more importantly, a pair of comfortable ones. There’s nothing worse than sauntering around the festival grounds in pain from those horrid boots. There’s no excuses either as you don’t need to spend huge amounts of money for a comfy pair.

5. A blow-up mattress for all you campers is absolutely amazing when you realise you don’t have that creak in your neck like everyone else who slept on hard ground. The only people that seem to be able to do that without any discomfort are avid yogis… Hmm.

6. Toilet paper. Bog roll. Whatever you like to call it – don’t forget it!

7. A water bottle that you can refill always comes in super handy. The morning after your night of dancing and boozing, you’ll want plenty of that life elixir that is water. Instead of spending oodles of cash on plastic water bottles and contributing to mounds of rubbish – take a bottle with you that you can refill anytime.

8. Foods that keep up your energy and blood sugar levels are ideal at festivals. It’s always a good idea to bring a few energy bars containing nuts and seeds which are full of goodness. Anything that helps get our bodies through it – we’ll take one of those!

9. As you all know, baby wipes are fantastic while camping as they’re incredibly convenient to use. They are not however always the best thing for our skin, so be sure to buy makeup wipes that care for your skin and be wary of the types containing alcohol and other skin irritants.

10. But most importantly, have a fantastic time.
