New York Fashion Week started in style last week with some of the world’s biggest fashion names showcasing their Spring 2014 wares.
The style set are always thinking ahead, what to wear for winter is our main priority but they have spring 2014 already sorted! Every day of this year’s Fashion Week, we will be bringing you all the latest style news from New York with Maybelline. Wes Gordon showed his first runway collection yesterday, an impressive feat for a young label, and he did not disappoint…
The Show
Gordon’s Spring ’14 collection is effortless, feminine and graceful. Lightweight fabrics in fluid shades dotted with metallics and lace make for a very wearable line. It’s the perfect combination of high fashion and ready to wear; cropped tops are paired with sleek trousers and maxi dresses with sharp blazers. Understated elegance is the name of the game here, our favourtie piece has to be the metallic midi skirt. In a word, gorgeous.
The FROW
Models, stylist, photographers, actresses and musicians attend NYFW to see what’s in store for next season. Wes Gordon’s show was no exception with models Lyndsey Ellington and Constance Jablonski in attendance. The Face
Makeup artist Alice Lane was inspired by the luxe fabrics and created an Old Hollywood feminine look, reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich. “I was going for a hopeful, yet chic feel,” says Lane, who used a variety of textures, most notably gloss. “I wanted the eyes to be a beautiful accessory for the overall look,” she says. Lane played up eyelids by applying Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Breaking Bronze from lash lines to creases, and then topped the color with Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched for a high-shine effect. A wet brush was used to apply Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Breaking Bronze to the inner corners of the eyes, as well as to the cupid’s bow of the lip for an amplified metallic sheen. Lane slicked Color Elixir in Nude Illusion onto lips, allowing the color to go slightly outside the lines for a voluptuous, imperfect finish.
