New York Fashion Week started in style last week with some of the world’s biggest fashion brands showcasing their Spring 2014 collections.

The fashion set are always thinking ahead, when we’re thinking about our winter wardrobes they have spring 2014 sorted. Every day of this year’s Fashion Week, we will be bringing you all the latest style news from New York. Lacoste is always a show to look forward to and this year was no exception; think cool separates and elegant chic.

The Show

Lacoste’s 80th birthday is fast approaching and the fashion house sure has cause to celebrate. Creative Director Felipe Olivera Baptista merged the history behind the brand with new ideas resulting in a cool, clean collection. Organza and nylon feature heavily, lending a luxe feel to Lacoste sportswear. The colour palette is very wearable with lots of navy, white and tan shades. Pinks and peaches add a soft pastel pop but there is nothing loud here. The collection screams relaxed luxury and we want it now.

The Frow

Apart from the clothes, everyone wants to know who is sitting front row for each show. American DJ and model Leigh Lezark, DJ Geordon Nicol and photographer cum stylist Hanneli Mustaparta turned out to see Lacoste’s new season offerings. With these cool kids supporting, it won’t be long before everybody wants a piece.

The Face

Makeup artist Mayia Alleaume for Maybelline New York created a soft look for the models backstage. “I was going for a sensual, after-the-beach feel,” says Alleaume. “First, skin was perfected with Fit Me Shine-Free Powder, and then dusted with Fit Me Blush and Fit Me Bronzer for a fresh, sun-kissed effect. Eyelids were enhanced with Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe and Bad to the Bronze, and then lightly lined with Eye Studio Master Smoky Longwearing Shadow Pencil in Smoking Charcoal. Lips were treated to Color Sensational in Totally Toffee and a touch of Color Elixir in Nude Illusion.
