Eight lustworthy high-street items that have literally just dropped

Cathy Donohue

‘New in’.

It’s always my first port of call when checking the numerous fashion apps on my phone and there’s rarely an occasion I don’t spy at least five things I need to have.

If there’s a new trending item or piece that everyone wants, it’s this section that you’ll find it in.

Of course, no one has the time to check all the trending sections of all your favourite sites but I’ve done that bit for you.

Below are eight shiny, brand-new pieces that have just landed…

Embroidered sweater with flowers, €69.95 at Zara

Okay, to coin a Miranda Priestly phrase, florals for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking.

They may not be new but they’re as popular as ever and this jumper is an easy way to nail this timeless spring summer trend.

In case you need persuading, this is one piece you’ll wear all year around and it’s never going to go out of style either.

Now I’ve gone and sold it to myself. Oops.

Fluted hem skirt, €25 at Mango

Here is a versatile piece that’s actually a serious bargain too.

The fluted hem is so easy to wear, nips you in at the waist and flows over your hips for those days when you want to be comfy but somewhat elegant too.

Wear with a chunky knit and opaques now….once it gets warmer, you can swap for a white shirt and bare legs if you dare.

Lace ruffle top, €32 at Topshop

White tees are essential and you probably have more than a few in your wardrobe.

If you don’t, then now is a good time to start and this top is an updated take on the basic all-white option.

Monochrome is classic, lace comes back season after season so again, this is a sensible buy that you’ll get so much wear from.

Grey knit cropped culottes, €45 & grey knit high grazer top, €43, at River Island

Comfy co-ord of dreams.

I mean seriously, how chic is this look?!

It’s easy to wear (literally throw it on with courts for night and white sneakers for day), so SO stylish and it can be mixed and matched too.

Now if that’s not value for money, I don’t know what is.

Lace prom skirt with mesh overlay, €49 at ASOS

Now, this would be the perfect piece to start planning a summer wedding outfit around.

“SUMMER??”, I hear you say but yes, if you have an occasion coming up, buying now will save you a lot of hassle when the date comes around and a major bonus is there’s less chance someone will have the same ensemble (namely because you didn’t panic buy at the last-minute).

Side note: it’s also very pretty and the neutral colour means you’ll be able to recycle it again with different colour combinations.

Navy and yellow embroidered dress, Three floor, €320 at Arnotts

While most of the items featured here are everyday pieces that will easily slot into your wardrobe, I’m a big fan of a statement buy too.

Having spent this morning at the Arnotts Spring Summer preview, I spotted many a must-have item but top of the list is this absolutely fabulous, and I mean fabulous, Three Floor dress.

It will be available to buy in store over the coming weeks and I’m currently thinking of ways to attend an event, any event, so I can wear it.

Yellow and navy is such a fresh cool colour combination and the cut-out detail adds an edge.

So SO stunning.

Black frayed hem flared jeans, €29.99 at New Look

Pom pom hems so 2016, frayed hems are where it’s at for 2017.

These jeans are a bargain at €29.99 and the shorter length ensures they’re perfect for spring summer.

Add your trusty ankle boots, a cotton tee, leather jacket, delicate jewellery and you have cool girl chic sorted.
