Want a gander at the next generation of River Island looks?!

Take a look at Alice Doherty’s designs as the student has just been announced as the winner of River Island’s 2014 bursary, in conjunction with The National College of Art and Design.

Chosen from a graduate class of 15, Alice from Blackrock, Co.Dublin, is to receive a design bursary of €3,500 and will also undergo a paid three month internship at River Island’s London design studio.

The 15 students were asked to design a capsule collection, imagining it would be sold in River Island.

The designs were then judged by River Island Design Director Naomi Domanique who said: “We are so excited for Alice to start her placement in River Island.

“Our industry thrives on fresh ideas and it is so important to inject new energy and life into our design studio and creative teams.

“It is the 11th year of our NCAD Bursary and we are delighted to be amongst the first to witness and embrace the emergence of some of Irelands brightest new stars in the fashion industry”.

Inspired by both street style and her personal life experiences, Alice’s winning collection focuses on the use of different textures and fabrics with the talented graduate incorporating wire knit accessories and draping.
