A warning has been shared with social welfare recipients
Social welfare recipients have been advised to take note of upcoming changes during the bank holiday weekend.
Some payment changes will be made at earlier and later dates as banks and post office’s opening hours have changed.
Monday, August 5th is a bank holiday, so post offices and banks in Ireland will be closed.
If people are expecting payments into their accounts on Monday, August 5th then it’ll likely arrive on Friday, August 2nd.
Normal payment services will resume on Tuesday, August 6th.
The Department of Social Protection stated:
“Monday 5 August is a Bank Holiday and as a result, any social welfare payments due to be in your account on Monday 5 August will now be paid on Friday 2 August instead. Payments will be paid as normal on Tuesday 6 August.
“All Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 5 August. Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will reopen on Tuesday 6 August.”
The update comes after reports claimed increases to social welfare payments could be introduced in Budget 2025.
Social welfare recipients could see significant benefits in the upcoming Budget 2025, with government discussions hinting at the possibility of double payments.
