Police in Australia have launched an investigation after two young boys discovered the body of a baby whilst playing on a beach in Sydney.
According to reports the boys, aged six and seven, found the body buried under the sand at South Beach in the eastern suburb of Maroubra on Sunday morning.
New South Wales police said in a statement: “A number of children were playing at the southern end of South Beach when they located the body of a baby in the sand.
“Investigations into the child’s death are continuing, however, the age and sex of the child is yet to be determined.”
It is also unknown how long the body has been there. A post-mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
