Two sisters in Co Waterford are being treated in hospital after a petrol bomb attack at their home in Ballybeg.
The two children were taken to hospital with burns and cuts after the petrol bomb was thrown into their home around 9pm last night. The girls were sitting on the sofa in the sitting room when the bomb was thrown through the front window and exploded in the room.
The young girls grandmother came to their rescue when she came into the sitting room and succeeded in putting out the flames with a fire extinguisher.
The girls are being treated at Waterford University Hospital where their injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.
Two other children were upstairs in the house at the time of the attack including a three-month old baby and Gardaí have confirmed that a third person was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
A man in his 20s was arrested and was held at Waterford Garda Station for questioning.
