Research conducted by The Irish Mirror has uncovered which counties in Ireland have the highest rates of drink-driving.
After analysing the penalty points distributed last year, it was found that Cavan had a very high rate of drink-driving offences, with an estimated 16 per 100,000.
Next came Donegal and Kerry with a rate of 15 offences per 100,000 followed by Limerick with 14 per 100,000.
The research showed that 75% of the drivers given penalty points (almost 250,000 people) were for offences relating to speeding.
Kilkenny was one of the worst offenders here followed by Wexford and Kildare.
