Teenage Boys Wear Skirts to School in Protest Over Ban on Shorts

Girls get to wear skirts or trousers so why shouldn't they?

A headmaster was in spot of bother recently when his students rebelled against his ban on shorts by kitting themselves out in skirts during an intense heatwave that was sweeping across the UK.

The 17 skirt clad boys at Whitchurch High School in Cardiff raised eyebrows when they emerged from the girls’ bathroom in their newly claimed attire.

One of the protestors was 15 year old Tyrone Evelyn.

“It’s just appropriate for the weather, we don’t want to be hot and bothered” said Tyrone speaking to The Daily Mail.

“Over the last few days I’ve had a few headaches and skin irritations because I’ve been too hot. Girls can wear skirts, so I don’t see why we can’t wear shorts. It’s a reasonable protest.”

The boys were quickly frogmarched to headteacher Huw Jones-Williams and ordered to put their trousers back on but managed to sneak back into the bathrooms again to switch into skirts. They then went down the school corridor chanting; “we want to wear shorts!”

Unfortunately for the boys, though they weren’t punished, the Cardiff school will be sticking to the strict uniform rules which lets girls choose between trousers or skirts but prevents their male counterparts from wearing shorts.

“It should be optional to wear three-quarter length shorts. It would cost exactly the same as if they wore trousers” said Tyrone’s mother Andrea John.

Below, an interview with some of the boys and their parents:

The boys now plan to write to the student council in the hope that the strict uniform policy will be lifted.
