“Suspicious Package” Found At Westmeath Hospital Declared To Be A Hoax

An alleged letter bomb threat in a hospital in Co. Westmeath yesterday evening has been pronounced to have been a hoax.

Members of staff at St. Loman’s Hospital in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, were evacuated yesterday evening after an envelope containing “a suspicious powder” was discovered.

Gardaí and the Army explosive ordnance disposal team arrived at the scene and some members of staff were evacuated from the building.

According to reports, ten members of staff were also placed in quarantine.

Tests on the substance proved to be negative and Gardaí are said to be investigating further.
