It is understood that the man being held over the deaths of the elderly couple in Donegal is their son.
According to reports this morning, the man in his 40s is still being questioned by gardaí at Buncrana garda station.
The couple, named locally as Jimmy and Kathleen Cuddihy, were found dead in their home in Carndonagh on Thursday morning.
The house was sealed off after the discovery and a hatchet was removed from the scene for further examination.
Jimmy and Kathleen were both in their 70s and had four children together. They were well known within the local community.
