Photos of men in blackface outside Dublin pub sparks massive debate online.

People need to cop on.

Photos of a group of men drinking outside a Dublin pub in blackface has sparked massive public reaction online.

The men, who appear to be on a stag night, were all dressed up as an array of well-known black characters from film and sports.

Jessica Ngozi Chichi McDonald, a passer-by who took the photos last weekend has told Her.ie that she confronted the group’s racist behavior but was met with laughs and chants, some of them even told her to take a closer picture.

Jessica posted the photos on Facebook with the heading

“So these racist idiots decided that it was okay to wear brown and black faces to a pub in Dublin city center while laughing in my face and everyone who called out their racist representations. Thanks to my ancestors for the serenity because I was so close to smacking the smug off their ignorant racist faces.

To think they so desperately include Irish people in slavery conversations smh. Any idiot who uses Irish people as examples of white slavery should drown in the freaking Liffey.

Not ever the fake Jews are this dense”

Since posting these photos Jessica has told Her.ie that she has been the target of online abuse, with many people telling her to stop being so sensitive or go back to Nigeria.

“The magnitude of racial discrimination has not happened in recent times in Ireland against black people but to have to defend myself growing up in Ireland against racist ignorenceis already enough and then this happens. It’s appalling.

No establishment should have allowed them in like that. Since they were so ignorant, a business shouldn’t condone their ignorance.”

We contacted the Dublin pub pictured in these photos to give them a right to reply. We spoke to the management at the time who confirmed that the group were punters in their establishment. They told us that they did not think that the group was racist and could not see how the groups behavior could’ve caused offense to people.

Have a look at the photos below and see what you think.
