We spend a large portion of our working day dreaming about winning the Lotto and the dream became a reality for two Irish people this week.
A civil servant working in Dublin walked away with a prize of €500,000 in this week’s Euromillions draw, after buying a €6 QuikPick at a Spar store on Thomas Street.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, revealed that she found out the news after checking the numbers on Teletext and planned to buy a house with her winnings.
There was a second Irish winner in the Lotto Plus 1 draw, with 77-year-old John Foley from Williamstown, Co. Galway collecting a cheque for €350,000.
The pensioner was accompanied at his daughter Annette Keegan and son Timothy Foley to pick up his winnings and said that he hoped to “live long enough to spend it!”.
