Orlando to buy Pulse night club in memory of victims

The city will turn the club into a memorial.

On June 12th this year, a man opened fire in a gay club and shot 49 people dead and wounded 53 others. Gunman Omar Mateen was then killed by SWAT team members.

The Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer announced on Monday that the city has reached a deal to buy Pulse nightclub, according to NBC.

The nightclub will remain as it is for the next year to 18 months at the request of Dyer, who said it had  become a gathering place for mourners.

The club which cost $2.25 million to buy will be turned into a memorial for the victims of the shooting.

The Mayor is asking the community how best to honour the victims with the memorial club.
