Yesterday wintry showers spread across the country bringing sleet and snow to many places. Today strong winds and gusts have resulted in even more weather warnings.

There is a status orange wind warning in effect for Clare, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Waterford and Wexford with gusts reaching up to 110-130 km/h.

There is also a status yellow wind warning for Carlow, Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Meath, Monaghan, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wicklow.

As well as the strong southwesterly winds, rain showers are also expected. These will turn heavy this evening with some turning wintry.

Clare, Connacht, Cork, Donegal, Kerry and Limerick can expect the worst and a rainfall warning has been issued in these areas until 11.00pm.

Temperatures will drop tonight to around zero to 3 degrees bringing a risk of frost and ice. Tomorrow looks to be the same with a mixture of strong winds and showers.
