Singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed after a concert she performed at in Orlando last night.
According to reports, a man walked up and shot her, resulting in fatal injuries.
Her brother then tackled the man who then killed himself in the ensuing struggle.
It has since emerged that the gunman had travelled from Orlando from another city in Florida, purely to target Christina.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the suspect is a 27-year-old male who did not know Christina personally.
Orlando Police Chief John Mina said:
“She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise. This white male approached her and opened fire, striking her.
“We believe he came here to commit this crime”.
Mr Minal also said that the suspect was carrying two handguns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife when he shot Christina.
It is thought that bags were searched at the concert, which took place at The Plaza Live, but there weren’t any metal detectors nor were there “any pat-downs” of people at the venue.
