The Miss Teen USA beauty pageant is receiving a serious backlash

We can see why...

People are NOT happy…

Beauty pageants never have a glowing reputation.

Their subjugation of girls, judging them in mortifying swimsuit rounds in their competitions and their unrealistic ideals of beauty mean that many children and teens look at the hairless, thin beauty contestants caked in makeup and feel jealousy that are not as preened and perfect as the models on stage.

One beauty pageant that is causing serious ructions in the media and online is the Miss Teen USA competition.

The competition was majorly slated by people on Twitter for their choice of top 5 contestants who made it to the final.

The top 5 consisted of Karlie Hay, Emily Wakeman, Marley Stokes, Erin Snow and Carissa Morrow but what people quickly realised was how similar the girls looked, specifically with their blonde hair and white skin.

While Miss Teen USA ignored people’s complaints that the pageant was preferential in their selection of contestants by race, the debate around the competition’s morals has only heated up more following the crowning of Karlie Hay as the winner of the 2016 pageant.

Many people have called for the 18-year-old to be dethroned as Miss Teen USA 2016 as racist tweets have been uncovered from her old Twitter account. The model referred to her friends repeatedly as ‘n****’ and people couldn’t believe their eyes at the disgusting tweets.

The beauty queen went on to apologise for her previous language however it was reported that she will be allowed keep her Miss Teen crown.
