UPDATE: Numerous reports say the man murdered in North Dublin has been identified as Eddie Hutch senior, brother of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch.
A man in his 50s has been shot dead in Dublin’s north inner city this evening.
RTÉ News reports that the shooting happened at Poplar Row in Ballybough at about 7.45pm.
The national broadcaster reports that four men were involved and they fled the scene in a Volkswagen Golf.
Some reports have suggested that the murder is linked to the shooting which took place in Drumcondra’s Regency Hotel last Friday in which 33-year-old David Byrne was killed.
