A man has been arrested after a child was thrown from a bridge in Florida. The five-year-old girl died as a result of the incident.
St Petersburg police told reporters that an officer who was trying to stop a speeding vehicle around midnight saw the driver stop on the bridge and throw a child into the water.
The driver, believed to be the girl’s father, is in custody and is currently being questioned.
Attempts were made to try to resuscitate the child but she was later pronounced dead at hospital. Her identity is being withheld until her family is notified.
