A Pogues fan has launched a search for a man who saved his life after he suffered from a cardiac arrest during one of the band’s concerts.
Andrew Plank was enjoying a performance from the band at London’s Hyde Park earlier this month when he had a heart attack.
Luckily, a fellow attendee was on hand to offer CPR for ten minutes before paramedics were alerted to the incident. The band paused their set while medics used a defibrillator to revive Plank and it is believed that the earlier resuscitation efforts may have saved his life.
Plank is now recovering in hospital and told the Irish Post that he is “very keen to just do as much as we can to reach out to this stranger and to say thank you and express our gratitude to this amazing person”.
“There are not many people who are confident enough in a practice scenario to do CPR, let alone in a festival scenario where they’ve possibly had a drink or two, are having a good time, and then all of a sudden this event happens. To be able to act selflessly, immediately, is just incredible,” he said.
