Jim Corr has weighed in with congrats to Trump

The Fine Gael TD is happy to role out the green carpet for the President elect.

Democracy has spoken and while certain people might not like the outcome, it’s highly likely that Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the United States. Kerry T.D. Michael Healy-Rae was the first notable Irish politician to extend his congratulations to Trump, but Taoiseach Enda Kenny wasn’t far behind as the Fine Gael leader stated that he’s “confident that under [Trump’s] leadership, our bilateral relations will continue to prosper.”

The opening sentence of Kenny’s statement caused a backlash from the Irish public though but on the other side of this, a few more ‘notable’ Irish citizens have wholeheartedly offered their congratulations to Trump.

Mayo TD Michelle Mulherin was recently in the news after she faced controversy after accusing the GAA of discrimination having had her request for All-Ireland Final tickets denied by the association. The Fine Gael representative for Ballina wasted no time in extending a welcome from the people of Ireland to the President elect.

Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan was one of the many people that questioned this stance.

Jim Corr is also a figure that’s not short of expressing his opinion, and he hopes that “The Donald lives up to the expectations of the American people”.
