Iarnród Éireann have announced today that the direct Galway to Limerick line will be closed until at least March due to bad flooding.
According to the company, the line will remain closed for at least six weeks due to flooding in Ballycar.
The line from Galway to Ennis will still be operation but the line from to Ennis to Limerick will remain closed for at least six weeks.
According to the Clare People, bus transfers will be in operation between Limerick and Ennis for the duration of the closure.
The flooding comes after Irish Rail had raised the height of the track by 60 cm in 2003, according to the Irish Independent.
