Popular playwright Brian Friel has died at the age of 86.
Best known for his plays Dancing at Lughnasa and Philadelphia, Here I Come, he also penned more than 30 others and enjoyed considerable success.
The Co. Tyrone-born writer scooped three Tony Awards in 1992 for Dancing at Lughnasa.
He died earlier today after a long illness.
