UPDATE: Irish Nurse Karen Buckley Missing in Glasgow

Glasgow police investigating the disappearance of Cork woman Karen Buckley have said they are “extremely concerned” for her welfare.

Having spoken to a man seen on CCTV with Karen, 24, in the early hours of Sunday morning, officers have said they are satisfied that he is not a suspect.

Detective Superintendent Jim Kerr said:”We believe she got into a vehicle near church street and went to another location in a vehicle.

“She spent some time with the man from the CCTV footage.  He says they had consensual sexual relations and she left.”

Karen is though to have left the man’s home around 4am to walk home. Police added that they were keen to trace a grey or silver car seen in the area later that day. They do not have a make or model reference for the vehicle.

Kerr said: “The activity of this grey car on the Monday is something that we’re a wee bit concerned about. It’s been seen in various locations.”

The investigation remains a “missing person” investigation.

Approximately 20 minutes before the press conference, a member of the public is believed to have located Karen’s handbag in a nearby park.

Karen’ mother Marian and father John were in attendance at the press conference. John said: “If anybody is holding Karen or anybody knows anything about her, just please return her please. Just give her back, we love her to bits. We’re devastated. Thank you.”

The friends and family of an Irish nurse who has gone missing in Glasgow are appealing for any information on her whereabouts.

Karen Buckley, who is originally from Cork but recently moved to the Scottish city, was last seen at nightclub Sanctuary in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 12th).

The 24-year-old was spotted leaving the venue shortly after 1.00am. CCTV shows her talking to a man who the police are keen to speak to.

Karen is described as white and approximately 155-160cm tall with dark hair. She was last seen wearing a black jumpsuit with red high heels.
