According to Debenhams, Irish men are starting to get a bit braver and more of them than ever before are venturing into lingerie shops and departments in order to pick out something naughty for the lady in their life.
In fact, Debenhams have said that sales of sultry baby-doll nighties have more than doubled in the last month. Meanwhile sales of lacy bra and knicker sets in red, black and purple are up a whopping 63 per cent.
So why are men suddenly going mad buying lingerie? Eh…you can probably guess what we’re going to say next…
Why yes, it’s all down to that naughty little book Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L James.
Fifty Shades is inspiring men to treat their other halves.
“We’ve seen a huge increase in male customers visiting our lingerie departments over the last fortnight. They’ve been spotted nervously loitering, their faces fifty shades of red!” said Sharon Webb, the head of lingerie at Debenhams.
“Since the Fifty Shades phenomenon, men are buying more daring pieces,” she added.
Would you be mortified if himself wandered off and bought you a bra or will you be leaving a few hints around the house to encourage him?
