The Irish ladies rugby team have been voted Ireland’s number one summer heroes 2014, according to a new survey.

The talented sports stars scooped the title on the back of their phenomenal victory over New Zealand in this year’s World Cup which was played in France. The girls in green arrived home to an enormous homecoming at Dublin Airport having been placed fourth in the world.

Now they’ve topped the poll as the Heroes of the Summer with a massive 98% of the vote. Other sporting heroes, including Rory McIlroy and Conor McGregor, were also in contention for the title.

Meanwhile, according to the report by Work.Shop.Play.ie, Justin Bieber topped the poll in the villain stakes, followed closely by hayfever (the bane of Irish summers) and world-famous biter Luis Suarez.

Country and western singer Garth Brooks didn’t fare too well either with many of those surveyed also voting him as their baddie of the season, following the cancellation of his five concerts scheduled for Croke Park in July.

Moving to actors, Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan topped the hero poll for women while beards were branded as villains.
