We can see why!

A holiday cottage in Co. Meath has been awarded the title of Best Beach Holiday Home in Europe.

The holiday rental is called Thatcher’s Rest and is one of six cottages available for rent along the east coast in Bettystown, Co. Meath.

It was announced as the winner at the 2016 European Home Holiday Awards, which were held in Brussels.

Liz Pickett, who runs the cottages told the Independent, “We’re over the moon. We had zero expectation of winning. We felt like we’d won being shortlisted, to be honest. We were up against gorgeous places ranging from Cornwall to an island in Croatia, with all the bells and whistles. It is a major wow to have won.”

Speaking about the cottages she said, “They’re basically these beautiful, 300-year-old cottages that we’ve renovated to 5-star standards. It’s a lovely, old-world feel but with cutting edge Wi-Fi, flatscreen TVs, luxury beds and linen… all the stuff you’d want to find.”

Three nights in Thatcher’s Rest will cost you €1,260 but they have other smaller cottages which vary in price from €480.

We can see why it won.
