CCTV footage of a hit-and-run involving an 11-year-old boy in Manchester, England, has just been released.

The grainy footage, from last Tuesday, shows the car entering the street from the bottom right-hand corner. Further up the street, a group of people, including the 11-year-old, are lined up to cross the road.

The boy steps off the footpath to cross the road and appears not to have time to react as the car hits him and knocks him over. The driver of the car can be seen driving on in the video.

Police are now looking for the motorist who knocked over the boy.

Although the victim only suffered minor injuries, police say that the accident could have been fatal.

“The CCTV is crystal clear,” said PC Adrian Spurrel. “The driver collided with a young boy then callously drove off, leaving him slumped on the road.

“Remarkably, he only missed one day of school after suffering minor injuries, but clearly the injuries could have been far worse or even fatal.”

The incident occurred just after 7.15pm on September 2nd in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.

“To leave a young boy shocked and injured in the road when you have no idea how seriously injured he may or may not be shows a worrying level of apathy and regard for his welfare and I need the public’s help to identify the driver,” PC Spurrel added.
