A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of 90-year-old Paddy Lyons.
Earlier today, Gardaí confirmed that the case was now a murder investigation and this evening, news broke that a man in his 20s had been arrested.
Mr Lyons was found in an armchair in his home in Ballysaggart, Waterford and on completion of a post-mortem, he was found to have suffered serious head injuries.
According to The Irish Mirror, the arrested man is currently being detained at a Garda station in Waterford under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Earlier today, Gardaí asked the man and woman who raised the alarm on Saturday to come forward and they are now believed to be helping with Garda enquiries.
