The collision occurred near Ballinasloe yesterday evening.
Four people have lost their lives following a multi-car crash in Co. Galway.
The collision took place near Junction 15 on the M6 motorway near Ballinasloe shortly after 7pm yesterday evening.
It has been reported that the crash happened after one car traveled the wrong way down the motorway and collided with two other vehicles.
Four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, and at least one other person was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The road between Junction 14 and Junction 16 is closed this morning in order for forensic examinations to take place.
