Five Swimmers Rescued From Aggressive Dolphin in Salthill

Her

Five swimmers in Galway Bay had a lucky escape last night when a dolphin came a little bit too close for comfort as they were swimming.

The swimmers were out in the water at Blackrock, Salthill shortly after 7pm yesterday evening when the dolphin approached and began to circle around them.

A RNLI lifeboat was called to the scene, supported by another local boat which tried to create a barrier between the dolphin and the swimmers. Other boats had also tried to help the swimmers.

The lucky swimmers were not seriously injured but were in shock after the incident. They sustained some sharp nudges from the dolphin during their time in the water.
