Five teenage boys in Dublin have been arrested on suspicion of an alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl.

The boys, who are reported to be aged between 14 and 15, were arrested over the weekend. They were held at various garda stations in south Dublin.

Searches were carried out at the boys’ home before they were released yesterday.

The arrests were made in connection with an incident which occurred in March of this year in Knocklyon, Dublin.

The alleged victim told gardaí that she was raped after drinking alcohol with the group in her own home.

It is claimed that she met the boys while out with friends, and the group returned to her house.

They drank some alcohol, before the girl claims that she went upstairs to get sick and that this is when the alleged attack happened.

A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
