A Dublin man has been convicted at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the sexual exploitation and defilement of a 15 year-old-girl in July 2011.
Conor O’Keefe, from Ballycullen, was convicted at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The 26-year-old pretended to be a 13-year-old girl to convince the girl to come to his house and have sex with him, according to RTÉ News.
Clíona Saidléar from the Rape Crisis Network has welcomed the sentence and told RTÉ that she does not believe that a 15-year-old could willingly give consent to participate.
O’Keefe’s defence counsel described it as a “once off incident” and said he had since become a father.
The judge presiding over the case described O’Keefe’s actions as ‘predatory’ and sentenced him to five years in prison with two years suspended.
